MilestOne Achieved (uncut version)

As I contemplated how to share this update about obtaining a significant milestone in my career I kept going back to this theme, “My Recipe for Success”. Just like there are thousands of ‘family’ recipes that exist to make almost anything, the same holds true for obtaining “Success”. I define “Success” as an attainment of a desired outcome, anchored to an intentional pursuit. As I reflect over my years of combined experience at Microsoft, where it took preparation to land a role at my “Soul-Company” (the company’s mission aligning with my personal mission). I’m reminded of the parable “don’t despise small beginnings”. Everything has a ‘starting’ point, the key is to set your aim at the ending points (desired outcomes) and be intentional about the pursuit. After 5+ level promotions along this journey, accomplishing one of the hardest career jumps to make (my commitment to operational excellence in everything that I do). With great humility and excitement, I would like to announce that I am now a VivaHR Strategy Director.

My Recipe for Success = (Preparation + Opportunity + Intentional Pursuit) x Operational Excellence. The secret ingredient embedded into every element is your circle of people in the behind you; challenging you, rooting for you, praying for you and supporting your determination to push beyond “perceived” limitations. There is a village tied to my success and you know who you are, a sincere thank you. Special gratitude to a few leaders who recognized my unique skills, abilities and believed in me when I accepted the Viva position 9 months ago.

Uncut Moment…

Navigating my career as a Black Woman in Corporate America has come with many challenges along this journey including some high-highs and some low-lows. My Faith and Determination for obtaining my goals despite ANY obstacle has been vital to my journey to-date and to-come. My anchor point is that I’ve always known that this journey that I’m on is bigger than me, there are people that I’m meant to inspire and encourage along the way.

I remember being in a meeting with a leader at one of my previous company’s and being told that I was “too ambitious”, which was absurd in my opinion! What does that even mean, is that even possible? I give this example because there are been times in my career where “My Recipe for Success” didn’t yield the dividends that I desired, but I didn’t let it stop me pursuing!

In my book, Conquering Uncertainty their is a chapter titled “Imposter Syndrome, you have no room in my life” where I emphasize the importance of recognizing your worth and breaking free from bounds of societal stereotypes. When YOU Recognize Your WORTH and Intentionally Pursuing your Dreams, NO ONE can STOP you from Obtaining YOUR Desired SUCCESSES.

Keep Dreaming and Keep Obtaining
