Healed at Hello: Guiding Future Leaders at the YounG Women’s College Preparatory Academy

This month is Microsoft Give month when we take time to give back to our communities across the world. Yesterday I had the honor of spending the day with a group of 7th grade girls at the Young Women's College Preparatory Academy (YWCPA) in Houston, where I facilitated a conference entitled “Healed at Hello.” The word “Hello” is so powerful - each time that we say it we have a new opportunity to set the tone and intention for an encounter with ourselves and others. Your “hello” could change someone’s life or inspire them to not give up in the midst of a challenge they could be facing. I left with my heart filled with purpose, gratitude, encouragement and joy.

This “small but mighty class” is intelligent, driven, passionate, opinionated and kind and reminded me so much of the 7th grade version of me ❤️. There is nothing like being present and pouring my heart and wisdom into our youth at such an impressionable age where they are beginning to make key decisions about their future. I conducted a session called “When You Dream, I Dream, Let’s Dream Together” and it was transformative for the girls! These young women set Audacious goals, built closer bonds with their sisters, and learned the importance of accountability that they have to one another when it comes to pursuing and obtaining their Dreams.

My journey of resilience, perseverance, and sacrifice while pursuing my STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) education makes it all worth it when I have moments like these! It fills me with joy to think about how many more girls and young women could be inspired by my upcoming book, Conquering Uncertainty.

Thank you YWCPA for giving me space to continue to live my mission - Empowering everyone that I encounter to become the best version of themselves and to discover their purpose.
